KAA Gent played an excellent first half away at Brugge, the leader in the ranking. However, it was the home team that took the lead through a header from Dennis. Kubo then made the well-earned equaliser. Gent kept putting pressure in the second half, but a deviated shot from Cools put Brugge in the lead again (2-1), causing Gent to go home without any points.
Coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck has left KAA Gent in mutual agreement after the poor results of the last weeks.
KAA Gent want to thank the coach for his work at our club: with him we won our first title ever, we played a great Champions League and Europa League campaign, and the football was often a joy to watch.
We wish Hein all success in his future career!

The game against Zulte Waregem took a false start when a misunderstanding in the Ghent defense led to the opening goal from Saponjic. As a consequence the visitors only focused on defending the advantage and Ghent was not able to turn things around in the rest of the game.
Away at KV Oostende, KAA Gent picked its first win of the season. Kubo put Gent in the lead with one of the rare chances in the first half. Oostende turned up the pressure in the second half, but it was Gent's substitute Louis Verstraete who scored the 0-2 in the 91st minute and secured the three points for the Buffaloes.
Hein Vanhaezebrouck has announced his team selection for the Jupiler Pro League game against KV Oostende on Sunday evening. The selection contains 20 names, twp of them will not make it into the final selection.
The first win of the season did not seem far away after a penalty goal from Milicevic. But once again the final stage of the match proved to be dramatic with Brabec (KRC Genk) heading in the equalizer in the 89th minute. A heartbreaking loss of two more points!

In a thrilling but goalless match KAA gent and Anderlecht kept each other in balance and shared the points. KAA Gent dominated the first half but Anderlecht goalie Matz Sels (on loan from Newcastle United and ex KAA Gent) was the hero with some superb saves. After the break, the balance between both teams was restored and Gent's keeper Thoelen had to be alert, having to show his skills on three particular occasions. But like Sels, Thoelen kept his clean sheet, causing the match to end in a 0-0 draw.
It looked like KAA Gent were on their way to the first win of the season after stunning goals by Dejaegere and Sylla. But just before halftime our defender Gigot was shown a red card after what seemed to be a correct tackle. After the break the match changed: Mohamed with a lob and Govea with a deviated shot equalized. In the final minutes Bolingi scored in the rebound after our goalkeeper, Kalinic, first stopped his penalty kick. No first win but a sour defeat.

Mali striker Kalifa Coulibaly is leaving KAA Gent and has signed a contract with FC Nantes.
He signed his contract with our club on 21st June 2016 as a switch for the future and a potential replacement whenever Laurent Depoitre would leave the club. Coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck was very enthusiastic about his work rate and his endeavor. Soon Coulibaly showed he was a proven goalscorer who scored important goals, especially in important European games. So his nickname became “Mr.Europe”.
Roman Yaremchuk signed a 4 year contract with KAA Gent today. Yaremchuk, a 21 year old Ukranian striker, is a product of the youth academy at Dynamo Kiev. Last season, from juli until december, he was on loan at Ukranian Premier League team Oleksandria where he scored 5 goals in 11 games, after which he was called back to Dynamo Kiev. Yaremchuk is 1m91 tall and a fast and technically gifted striker.
After 3 succesful seasons, the Israeli defender, Rami Gershon, is leaving the Buffalo’s and signs a 5 years’ deal with Israeli side Maccabi Haifa.
Gershon has been playing in Belgium since 2010 and it was in 2014 that he signed for our club where he became one of the defensive strongholds. During our Championship season (2014-2015) he was one of the regular defenders and became famous for his legendary assist for our first goal in the decisive title match against Standard Luik (21st May 2015). Later on he was struggling with injuries for most of our Champions League campaign and only featured against Wolfsburg for 90 minutes.
Rami played up to 101 matches for KAA Gent. He became a familiar legend and was one of the team that eliminated Tottenham last year in the Europa League in our 100th European match. He will always be remembered as a tough, very fair defender who gave the best of himself. Always friendly, on and off the field, always working for the team…THANK YOU RAMI AND GOOD LUCK !
KAA Gent have won their first point in the regular competition in the AFAS Stadium of Mechelen. We were dominating the first half and deserved the 0-1 lead at halftime after a Kalifa Coulibaly assist permitted Kalu to score. We could easily have doubled the advantage after the break with Kubo hitting the post. The first victory seemed a fact till Matthys scored the equalizer for the home team in the dying minutes. A rather disappointing draw after what should have been a good win if we would've converted our chances efficiently.
