KAA Gent gets 0-2 away victory at Mouscron

On matchday 15 of the Jupiler Pro League KAA Gent has finally gotten their first away victory of the season. On the field of R Excel Mouscron, a corner was headed through by Nielsen and Perbet managed to score the opening goal just before the break. Saief secured the win in the 87th minute when he fired in a well-struck penalty.

2-0 win against Waasland-Beveren puts KAA Gent in fourth place

KAA Gent has beaten Waasland-Beveren with 2-0 on matchday 14 of the Jupiler Pro League. Dejaegere finished off a rebound when a header from Perbet hit the post. Saief secured the three points in the second half when Coulibaly put him in front of Köteles. With this victory Gent claimed the fourth place in the ranking, sharing it with Club Brugge en Charleroi.

Thomas Foket selected for Belgian Red Devils

KAA Gent defender Thomas Foket has been selected for the Belgian national team for the very first time. He's part of national coach Roberto Martínez's selection for the games against the Netherlands in the 126th derby of the Low Countries and Estonia in the qualifying campaign for the 2018 World Cup. Roberto Martinez:  "Thomas Foket has great potential. He has been impressive on European level with his club" KAA Gent noticed the 16-year-old Foket at his then team Dilbeek Sport in 2012, which played in Belgium’s 4th division (comparable to the UK’s League Two). While combining his football career with law studies at Ghent University, Foket grew to be an important player in KAA Gent’s defense and will now, only 6 years later, get the chance to show off his talent in what might be considered Belgium’s strongest national team ever.

No points for KAA Gent after goal fest with Shakhtar

KAA Gent made a lightning start on matchday 4 of the UEFA Europa League when Coulibaly scored a header after only 20 seconds. Gent dominated the first 35 minutes, but Shakhtar managed to turn the game around in the last ten minutes before the break. A penalty from Marlos, a strike from Taison and Stepanenko's header made it 1-3. The second half brought more goals, two for each team. Perbet and Milicevic scored for the Buffalo's, but Fred and Ferreyra sealed the 3-5 win for Shakhtar.

Delegation of FC Bayern visits Ghelamco Arena

A delegation of German champions FC Bayern, headed by Jürgen Muth, managing director of the Allianz Arena, visited the Ghelamco Arena today. ‘Der Rekordmeister’ has been suffering pitch problems in the Allianz Arena for a while and decided to have a closer look at the picture perfect pitch in the Ghelamco Arena. They were welcomed by our greenkeeper, our stadium director Dirk Piens and facility manager Erwin Weiremans.

KAA GENT exactly 116 years old today

On 31 October 1900, today exactly 116 years ago, KAA Gent was founded as the football department of the Association Athlétique La Gantoise (the Ghent Athletic Association, AAG). Its founders were Hector Priem and Auguste Van de Kerckhove. The AAG was a Ghent-based multi-sports association, which was born in 1864 as the Société Gantoise de Gymnastique and merged in 1891 with the Association Athlétique. In 1914 the association was conferred a royal warrant and was permitted, from that moment on, to call itself the Association Royale Athlétique La Gantoise (ARAG). In 1972 the name was changed to its Dutch counterpart: Koninklijke Atletiek Associatie Gent, or KAA Gent.

KAA Gent loses 2-0 at YR KV Mechelen

In a balanced first half Coulibaly missed a few chances for Gent, while Mechelen found Thoelen on their way. Afer the break the game could go both ways, but it was Filipovic who scored in the scrimmage after a corner. In the final minutes of the game Asare received a contested red card and Vitas didn't hesitate to convert the penalty to secure the three points for the home team.
