KAA Gent lose 2-1 away at Excel Mouscron

On the third matchday of the season, KAA Gent suffered their first defeat. Playing away at R Excel Mouscron, the Buffalos took the lead through an emphatic header from Depoitre, and Bezus almost doubled the advantage when he rattled the bar. But the home side hit back with two goals before half time: first Boya scored with a deflected effort, and then Campins finished sharply from a cross. In the second half, Mouscron defended their lead well, and though Kvilitaia thought he had equalised, he was adjudged to be just offside. The game ended 2-1, with the hosts taking all three points.

Late Larnaca equaliser denies KAA Gent away win

In the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, the Buffalos drew 1-1 away at AEK Larnaca. In a match played in oppressive heat, the Cypriots got off to the better start, but it was Gent who went into the break in the lead, thanks to Yaremchuk's goal from Dejaegere's assist. It looked like the men from Belgium would come away with the victory, but in the 88th minute Trickovski popped up to head home the equaliser.

KAA Gent thump KAS Eupen 6-1

The Buffalos enjoyed an emphatic victory in their first home match in the Jupiler Pro League this season. Within eight minutes, the home side were already two up, thanks to headed goals from corners by Plastun and Ngadeu. With little over half an hour on the clock, Bezus made it 3-0, and then Yaremchuk scored the fourth from the spot. Blondelle pulled one back for Eupen after half time, but Bezus and David put the icing on the Buffalos' cake in the closing stages, giving Gent a handsome 6-1 win.

KAA Gent through despite 2-1 defeat to FC Viitorul Constanta

KAA Gent are through to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League despite a 2-1 away defeat to Romanian side FC Viitorul Constanta. Yaremchuk put the Buffalos ahead in the first half, but after half time Viitorul were awarded two soft penalties, both of which Iancu converted. Gent got chances to equalise, but were not able to hit the back of the net. However, thanks to the Buffalos' 6-3 win in the first leg, their qualification for the next round was never in doubt. They will meet AEK Larnaca from Cyprus in the third qualifying round.

KAA Ghent miss out on a win at Charleroi

On the opening day of the Jupiler Pro League, the Buffalos, playing at the home of Sporting Charleroi, had a good opportunity to secure its first three points of the season after newcomer Ngadeu scored in the second half. However, Bruno equalised in the final minutes resulting in a share of the points for both teams.

KAA Ghent in a good position for their trip to Romania after 6-3 win

In the Second Qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, KAA Ghent convincingly won its first match against the Romanian side FC Viitorul Constanta, 6 goals to 3. Despite the incredible heat, the Buffalos were on fire right from the start and scored through Asare and Dejaegere goals in the opening quarter of an hour. And yet even after Mladen’s excellent goal in reply, Ghent continued the onslaught as before half time, Kubo scored twice and Yaremchuk converted a penalty kick. Shortly after the break, Yaremchuk extended the lead still further to 6-1. Tiru then scored twice for Viitorul, making the final result a remarkable 6-3. KAA Gent secure fifth place after 2-1 win against RSC Anderlecht

On the final matchday of Play-Off 1, KAA Gent secured fifth place thanks to their third successive win. The game against Anderlecht began perfectly for the home side with a goal from Kvilitaia in the second minute. Gent created enough chances to increase their lead, but failed to convert any of them. In fact, it was Anderlecht who scored next, when Bolasie tapped in with 15 minutes to go. But it was David who had the last word, sliding the ball into the corner to seal a 2-1 win for the Buffalos.

KAA Gent snatch last-minute win away at Antwerp

The first half of the game away at Antwerp was an even affair. Gent were very unlucky to go one down after an own goal from Bronn, before David equalised on the stroke of half time. The Buffalos were the better team after the break, but could not get a second, and when Bronn was sent off it seemed like a draw was the best they could hope for. But that was before Sorloth popped up in the 94th minute, knocking a screamer past Bolat to secure Gent their second win on the bounce.

KAA Gent triumphs in the final minute against Standard

KAA Gent finally got its first win in Play-Off 1. Playing away in Liège, Dejaegere gave Gent the lead, but Bastien headed in the equaliser. After the half-time break, David scored to put the Buffalos in the lead again, but after a pinball goal from Lestienne, the win seemed to go up in smoke. Until David headed in a Kvilitaia cross in the 94th minute, resulting in a deserved win for Gent.

KAA Gent lose Croky Cup final to YR KV Mechelen

In a fascinating and atmospheric cup final, the Buffalos took the lead through Dompé, but Mechelen equalised through Storm just before half time. In the second half, Mera headed Mechelen into the lead, before Gent put them under a serious spell of pressure. The Buffalos had lots of chances to score a second, but goalkeeper Verrips pulled off a number of saves, and luck was against them. So at the final whistle it was Mechelen who hoisted the Croky Cup aloft.

KAA Gent lose at home to leaders KRC Genk

KAA Gent were unable to pick up any points against Play Off leaders KRC Genk. The first half was an equal affair, and it was Verstraete and Asare who had the best chances, but they could not beat Vukovic. After the break, the men from Limburg were the stronger team, and they took the lead through a fantastic flick from Trossard. The Buffalos were unable to find an equaliser, so Genk went home with all three points.

KAA Gent get point away at RSC Anderlecht

The first half of this game was very uneventful, with neither Anderlecht nor Gent making any chances. Things got more exciting after half time, with Verschaeren hitting the bar and David striking the post, and both Kaminski and Didillon being called into action. But the game ended scoreless, which meant the two sides picked up their first point in Play-Off 1.

KAA Gent defeated by R Antwerp FC in the closing stages

Antwerp got off to the better start in this game. Baby hit the back of the net with just five minutes gone, though this was ruled out for offside. However, with 21 minutes gone, it was Baby who did open the scoring, when he profited on Gent's defensive errors. The Buffalos came out fighting after the break, and were rewarded with fifteen minutes remaining when Chakvetadze levelled things up. The home side then pushed for a winner, but it was the visitors who struck again, through Refaelov. Gent could not find another equaliser, so finished the game on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline.

Strong KAA Gent suffer unlucky defeat at KRC Genk

In a very exciting first half, the Buffalos played really well against the league leaders, and were unlucky not to take the lead when Asare hit the post. Gent were denied a penalty after a mistake from Dewaest, but then Genk did get a spot kick when a shot struck Bronn's arm. Malinovskyi tucked it away, and a few minutes later he doubled his tally when his deflected effort deceived Kaminski. The second half continued in the same vein, with lots of chances at both ends. Derijck got one back in the closing stages, but the Buffalos could not find an equaliser, so despite their great performance went home empty-handed.

Standard steal last-gasp win in Ghent

The Buffalos got off to a flying start in and put Standard under a lot of pressure, but could not convert their dominance into a goal. Then the sucker punch just before half time: Emond scoring from a free kick which Gent were unlucky to concede. Just after the break, the Buffalos equalised with beautiful strike from Verstraete, and then they ramped up the pressure. Yet once again, the home side failed to convert and it was Standard who scored against the run of play, with Marin's penalty securing an underserved three points for the visitors.
