A penalty from Marlos, a strike from Taison and Stepanenko's header made it 1-3. The second half brought more goals, two for each team. Perbet and Milicevic scored for the Buffalo's, but Fred and Ferreyra sealed the 3-5 win for Shakhtar.

They were welcomed by our greenkeeper, our stadium director Dirk Piens and facility manager Erwin Weiremans.
On 31 October 1900, today exactly 116 years ago, KAA Gent was founded as the football department of the Association Athlétique La Gantoise (the Ghent Athletic Association, AAG). Its founders were Hector Priem and Auguste Van de Kerckhove. The AAG was a Ghent-based multi-sports association, which was born in 1864 as the Société Gantoise de Gymnastique and merged in 1891 with the Association Athlétique. In 1914 the association was conferred a royal warrant and was permitted, from that moment on, to call itself the Association Royale Athlétique La Gantoise (ARAG). In 1972 the name was changed to its Dutch counterpart: Koninklijke Atletiek Associatie Gent, or KAA Gent.
In a balanced first half Coulibaly missed a few chances for Gent, while Mechelen found Thoelen on their way. Afer the break the game could go both ways, but it was Filipovic who scored in the scrimmage after a corner. In the final minutes of the game Asare received a contested red card and Vitas didn't hesitate to convert the penalty to secure the three points for the home team.

KAA Gent has regained a spot in the top-six after a 1-0 win against Standard de Liège. Coulibaly made the difference in the second half when he headed a corner into the net. Gent kept its clean sheet and jumped over Standard to the fifth place in the ranking.

Away at Eupen, Milicevic put Gent in the lead from the penalty spot. Davidzada was sent off in the second half, but Neto managed to double the lead by finishing off a fast counterattack. Sylla scored with a rebound and in the 90th minute Cases scored a controversial equaliser. In the injury time a header from Coulibaly went over the line, but the goal was not awarded. In the very end Taulemesse turned the game around with a winning strike in the left corner, leaving Gent empty-handed.

On matchday three of the UEFA Europa League KAA Gent suffered a 5-0 defeat away at Shakhtar Donetsk. Kovalenko gave the home team a quick lead with a lob and even though both teams were equally strong and had many chances, Ferreyra managed to score 2-0 before the break. Bernard and Taison extended the lead in the second half, while Gent kept missing their chances. Finally Malyshev put the 5-0 on the scoreboard. Gent does remain in second place in group H as the match between Konyaspor and Braga ended in a 1-1 draw.

KAA Gent climbed to the fourth place in the ranking after a strong 3-0 victory against leader Zulte-Waregem. The gripping first half saw no goals, but the second half saw many chances. Coulibaly scored with the head, but the game remained exciting and undecided after Hamalainen hit the post and Saief missed the penalty. Substitute Hannes Van Der Bruggen gave the assist for Moses Simon’s 2-0 and scored the final 3-0 with a hard kick from outside the penalty area.
KAA Gent ensured a 2-0 victory against the Turkish team Konyaspor on the second matchday of the Europa League. Kenny Saief scored the first goal and Renato Neto doubled the lead before half-time with a strong header. The second half was more well-balanced, but Gent's victory was never in danger. Gent moves on to 4 points after the first two matches.
