KAA Gent hosts the 11th EFDN conference about CSR in Football

On Tuesday and Wednesday the 13th and the 14th of November 140 representatives of more than 80 European clubs and their foundations, national leagues and football associations will gather in Gent for a congress about CSR & Community in European football.


The European Football for Development Network (EFDN) organises its 11th congress in Gent next week. It will instantly become the largest gathering of Europeans football clubs ever with ‘CSR in football’ as a theme.

Amongst those present will be Juventus, Inter, PSG Foundation, Celtic FC, Ajax, PSV, Werder Bremen and FC Midtjylland. Ex-Gent player Erlend Hanstveit, active in the community working of SK Brann will also be attending.

CSR in Football

The EFDN counts 64 members all over the UEFA region. The network was founded in 2014. KAA Gent was amongst the founding members. The organization gathers twice a year since 2014. Earlier congresses were held at Feyenoord Rotterdam, Manchester United, Valerenga Fotball Oslo, Glasgow Rangers FC, PSV, Benfica Lissabon and PSG.

During the congress, which will last fort wo days, the clubs, leagues and foundations will share their experiences and will debate the social challenges that Europeans professional football is facing.

KAA Gent president Ivan De Witte will open the congress on Tuesday morning. UEFA, the FC Barcelona Foundation, the German DFB Foundation, the Belgian Homeless Cup, the Feyenoord Foundation, Olympique Lyonnais, Shakthar Donetsk, Legia Warsaw and the KAA Gent Foundation are also on the program.

ECA CSR & Community Award 2018

KAA Gent is proud to be able to host the EFDN Congress in Gent. Recently the KAA Gent Foundation won the European CSR & Community Award 2018, awarded by the European Club Association (ECA) for the best community project in Europe.
