The extra safety measurements that were put in place following the several terrorist attacks throughout Europe will remain in force in 2019 and 2020. OCAD, Belgium's Coordinating Unit for Threat Analysis, decided to lower the national threat level to level 2, which means that the risk of a new terrorist act in our country is not non-existent. It is known that crowded public places are preferred targets. Therefore, sport events should be considered a possible target. This is why we've been advised to continue to apply some safety regulations. What this means exactly, will now be explained.
Please arrive earlier than you would in normal circumstances.
- It is prohibited to bring large bags or backpacks to the game. Supporters that to bring one, will be denied access to the stadium. Moreover, there are no lockers in the stadium to store any bags. You can bring a small bag up to the size of an A4 paper. Larger bags will be denied access.
- There will be extra security checks at the entrance. Body searches will be more elaborate which may results in longer queues at the stadium entrances.
- To conclude, we would like to draw attention to one particular matter: apart from it being prohibited, it is IN NO WAY A GOOD IDEA to bring pyrotechnic materials and ignite them in the stadium's vicinity before, after and during the game. Our security teams will be busy ensuring your safety and should never lose time by having to concentrate on incidents with pyrotechnic materials
- Arriving on time = Being inside the stadium on time
